17 Day Namibia – Botswana – Zimbabwe Overland Safari

The Ultimate Southern Africa Safari on Wheels

This overland safari affords you the experience of exploring glimpses of bustling township cultures, thrill of the Bushmen ancient dance rituals and scenic wonders of the dunes, bushveld with its wildlife, bird species and fauna.

Visit Etosha, Makgadikgadi Pans Game Reserve, Chobe National Park and explore the seventh wonder of the world, the unfathomably vast Victoria Falls in complete comfort.

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to the hotel in capital city of Namibia. Night, at own leisure

Vehicle and guide will collect you on arrival at Windhoek airport, the Capital City of Namibia. You will spend night at your own leisure.

Day 2: City tour and transfer to Etosha national park.

This morning you will have a quick tour of the colorful, sprawling and vibrant capital city of Namibia. You will then depart for Etosha National Park. You will feel at peace with world at night as you seat quietly watching a wide diversity of wildlife congregate and interact at a permanent floodlit waterhole at Etosha National Park.

DAY 3: Safari in Etosha National Park

This day we will have full day game drive in Etosha National Park – viewing herds of elephants, giraffes, eland, gemsbok, spring bok and many birds from the vantage point of the over-lander. With the sharp eye of the team, elusive cats leopard and cheetahs may be spotted. Drive back to camp where a campfire will be waiting to welcome you. Dinner should be ready by about 7pm and it is served under the stars, listening to the wildlife.

DAY 4: Transfer to Swakopmund

Breakfast, check-out and enjoy leisurely scenic drive to Swakopmund.  The road is smooth and passing rural and small towns.

DAY 5: Optional day in Swakopmund

This day is open for optional activities. Dolphin cruise, offers a blend of vibrant city life and fascinating glimpse of bustling township, sand boarding quad biking and scenic flights over the skeleton coast.

Day 6: Transit to Namib Desert

Have an early morning breakfast, transit through scenic Namib Naukluft Park to Sossusvlei, one of the most scenic natural wonders of Africa. Sossusvlei is blessed with iconic, red sand dunes of the Namib and exceptional desert wildlife like the oryx, springbok, ostrich and a variety of reptiles.

Day 7: Exploring dunes

Rise in the newly minted radiance of dawn, when the air is fresh and cool and be rewarded by the sight of the spectacular sight of the dynamic and living desert. Make the effort and climb one of the dunes and you will be overwhelmed by the breath taking scenery of the dunes at Sossusvlei.  Visit the Sesriem Canyon before returning to the Lodge.

Day 8: Transit to Zelda Game and Guest House

Today’s drive takes you to north east, traveling via Windhoek to Zelda Game and Guest House. This night is will be at leisure as you enjoy your last day Namibia.

Day 9: Cross boarder transit to Ghanzi and bushman cultural treat.

After a refreshing night’s sleep we make our way across the border to Botswana, travelling to Ghanzi. This ‘Capital of the Kalahari or the heart of the Kalahari is renowned for is the cultural tourism as well as wildlife viewing. – Here you can experience the fascinating world of the San Bushmen dance and bush man walk, explaining to you how they forage, hunt and find water in this harsh environment. You overnight stop at a Tautona lodge or similar facility.

Day 10: Transit to Maun and delta flights.

You are welcome to Maun, the third largest town in this spectacularly scenic southern African country. Here, you may opt to get a sneak peek of the Okavango Delta from above on an hour-long flight in a small plane to see a variety of wildlife and marvel at the vast delta basin or to kick back and relax at the campsite.

Day 11: Mokoro excursion.

Transfer in local safari vehicles to the nearest mokoros harbor for a smooth dugout canoe excursion. This is also safari at another level with a rare opportunity to camp on one of the islands with nature at its most elemental.

DAY 12: Transit to Makgadikgadi Pans

Start off early and enjoy a smooth drive to Makgadikgadi Pans Game Reserve from Maun. The pan is the greatest breeding sites of large flocks of Flamingos and Pelicans in southern Africa. Overnight at Nata lodge, a popular stopover between Maun and Kasane.

DAY 13: Transit and game drive in Chobe National Park

The safari will start with a transfer to Chobe. You will have lunch at the four-star Chobe Safari Lodge. After lunch, it will be time to take to the Chobe National Park in custom made 4×4 safari vehicles for a three-hour afternoon game drive. You will visit the upper Chobe River part that is not accessible by boats. This is where you will get to see the shy predators (lions, hyena, cheetah, and sometimes leopards) at times on their kills.

Day 14: Sunset cruise

You will enjoy a cultural tour to a village in the Caprivi community in Namibia. Sunset boat cruise on Chobe River.

Day 15: Cross boarder transfer and Smoke That Thunders

After a sumptuous breakfast at Camp, pack your bags and cross into Zimbabwe. You will spend your late afternoon visiting the must-see legendary Victoria Falls one of the most remarkable natural wonders of the world, known as Mosi-Oa-Tunya or The Smoke That Thunders.

Day 16: Optional activities in Victoria Falls

Enjoy a hearty breakfast; head out for the whole day at your own leisure in Victoria Falls. Popular activities include scenic flights over the falls in helicopters or micro lights, bungee jumping off the Victoria Falls Bridge, white-water rafting (seasonal). Finally, there is no better place for a delicious dinner and a cosy evening at the Boma Place of eating.

Day 17: Departure

 Transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
